HOW IT WORKS

ABOUT THE MAGIC

DAY 1 – FRIDAY: MEET YOUR TEAM

Individuals as well as groups of people that have a brilliant early-stage start-up idea can register for the event. day1-aBesides, individuals who have no concrete business idea can also take part and join one of the presenting projects for the weekend and often continue to work with their new team afterwards. People with business background (marketing, sales, etc.), design expertise, or IT/programming skills are all welcome to join. This gives the event the right mix of people with different backgrounds to form strong teams. A successful start-up needs people with complementary skills.
Thus, those who present their idea on Friday have the opportunity to find team members for a missing key skill, and those who come without an idea have the opportunity to explore the start-up world and optimally start their journey as early member or founder of a new promising start-up.
While most of our events accept ideas from all fields (such as Mobile, Industry 4.0, Big data, Telecommunication), we also organize themed events which focus on a particular topic.

day1-b Each pitcher has 90 seconds time to introduce their idea to the audience. No PowerPoint presentation allowed. Afterwards we will facilitate the team building process until everyone has a team and project to work on during the weekend. Team building activities make sure team members get to know each other and feel pumped to start working. Afterwards, all teams start to work on their projects. On this first day it is important to get to know the status-quo of the idea and to define goals for the weekend.

DAY 2 – SATURDAY: DEVELOP YOUR BUSINESS CONCEPT

The second day is defined by work, work, and work. After an introduction session on how to develop a solid business model, teams start to work on their business concept right away. We provide them with tools that guide them through the core aspects of every business model based on the famous Business Model Canvas.

Teams tackle questions like:

  • What problem do I solve?
  • What is my USP?
  • What competitors exist?
  • What are my customers?
  • How do I earn money?

In the afternoon, mentors with proven entrepreneurial experience and own successful company foundations will guide the teams with first-hand tips on how to make a successful business. During the mentoring sessions, they provide valuable feedback and work together with the teams to develop their business concepts further.

DAY 3 – SUNDAY: ROCK THE STAGE

By Sunday, and often after a short Saturday night, teams have the essentials for a functional start-up: a sound business concept that was challenged and validated by the mentors and adapted depending on their feedback. 10632807_983121788368504_8732987375569644831_n
After preparing the final presentations on Sunday afternoon, the projects will be presented to and evaluated by a panel of judges. Each team has 3 minutes time to convince the jury. Afterwards, the jury has 3 minutes time to ask questions. In the end the jury voting will be aggregated and the winners and prizes announced.

AFTER THE WEEKEND

The best teams go home with awesome prizes such as Tickets to one of Europe’s largest start-up event, the Pioneers Festival, or free rent for several months in a local co-working space. But more importantly, all teams go home with excitement, inspiration and motivation to continue their entrepreneurial path. It is important for us that the event is only the beginning of a great journey for our future entrepreneurs.
Selected start-ups have the opportunity to receive further intensive mentoring from our partners to push their business concept to investment readiness and eventual subsequent investment from our investment partners CONDA and Pioneers.
