Head of VDMA Competence Center Future Business & Director | VDMA Corporate Foresight and Startup-Machine Eric is head of the VDMA Competence Center Future Business, a think tank that identifies and harnesses relevant trends for the machinery industry. The trend scout and roadmapping expert joined the VDMA in 2000 and established several spin-offs from the electronics production segment, including those for flat-panel displays, photovoltaics and battery production. He founded VDMA Startup-Machine in 2017 to match German Mittelstand companies with young entrepreneurs and increase awareness for startup culture. As a physicist, he has a broad technical background. Beyond that, he is strongly involved in social, economic, ecological and policy trend foresight. He gained own startup-experience with the setup of a display company in 2002.
Laura Dorfer
Project Manager Startup Machine | VDMA Laura is a Project Manager Startup Machine at VDMA, where they bring together - startups and the machinery industry. She is involved in various projects and organization of workshops to bring startups to the next level by cooperating with SMEs mechanical engineering. Before, she was a Researcher and PhD student at the University of Siegen.
Dr. Tobias Weber
Consultant of technology, organization and innovation | VDMA Tobias is a consultant of technology, organization, and innovation at VDMA. Besides, before the position in VDMA, he was scientific Assistant and also Deputy Director of the Institute for Materials Handling and Logistics, University of Stuttgart. Tobias has a knowledge and extensive experience in various topics of the industrial manufacturing and logistics like technology management, Material Handling Systems, Mechanical and Plant Engineering, logistics. Moreover, he will give startups the deep overview of the VDMA organization and network of this the biggest and most important player in SME-dominated mechanical and systems engineering industry in Germany and Europe.
Dr. Matthias Vesper
Executive Expert Innovation, Ideation & Ecosystems | Rolls Royce Power Systems AG Matthias is going to support the event in his role as Executive Expert Innovation, Ideation & Ecosystems at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, a world leader in propulsion systems and distributed power solutions based on high-speed reciprocating engines. He is an engineer with a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD (Dr-Ing.) in Solid Mechanics, both from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. In 2003, he joined MTU Friedrichshafen, the main subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, and spent almost a decade in the field of structural mechanics and fatigue on a senior manager level. During this period, he also finished an extra-occupational  training with a diploma as trainer/coach for personality development. In late 2012, Matthias started a new and exciting journey in his career stepping into a completely different function on director’s level, being responsible for several corporate functions like coordination of the company’s relationships to associations, authorities, committees, organizations and industrial networks and later on idea management, innovation & technology management and last but not least IP management. In his current role for Rolls-Royce Power Systems, since January2018, Matthias is primarily striving for innovative opportunities and new business solutions through co-operations and partnerships. He is perceiving himself as path finder, door opener and bridge builder or simply innovation enabler.
Liane Lindner
Project Manager Digitalization R&D | MTU Liane is a Project Manager Digitalization R&D and also, a Manager Data Analytics & Science at MTU. Her competences include process improvements within R&D, big data analysis, and collecting&evaluating of different requirements in data-analysis. For almost 15 years, she was a Manager Thermodynamics and Charging Systems at MTU-Friedrichshafen where she was managing large diesel engines in different applications like commercial ships, agricultural machinery, mining applications, genset applications, rail applications, engines for the oil and gas industry. Besides, Liane is a lecturer of thermodynamics at DHBW Ravensburg.
 
Christoph Roessner
Co-Founder | Laserhub Christoph is a co-founder of LASERHUB, the first completely vertically integrated marketplace for the digital procurement of individual sheet metal parts. More than seven years ago he also founded EIGHT where he worked with several OEMs to provide a sustainable and fascinating charging infrastructure for EVs. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Christoph was working for companies like Daimler, ABB, TTS Systems (Festool) and Kurt Prinzing at the different business development and managing positions. Thus, he will share not only his professional knowledge and experience but also the inside views and tips for the industrial startups.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Ginter
Co-Founder / Chief Scientist / Professor | IWM Institut für Wertezentriertes Management Thomas Ginter is Professor of Business Administration with a focus on Organizational Design. After gaining his doctorate at the FU Berlin, Professor Ginter was initially marketing director at KUKA, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots. In April 2001, Thomas Ginter received his first call to the FH Rosenheim and accompanied there until his transfer to the HS Albstadt-Sigmaringen in 2004, the function of Dean of Studies. After another change of university, he teaches since 2011 at the HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen University. Since 2016, he has been the dean of studies for a new Master in Organizational Design. In addition to his professorship, Thomas Ginter has also been a corporate consultant and organizational developer since 2001. As a founding partner and chief scientist of the Institute for Value-Centered Management (IWM), Professor Ginter supports companies in strategy and transformation projects. The focus here is on mechanical engineering and plant construction, as well as the trade fair and association industry.

Axel Sprenger
Managing Director | UScale GmbH Axel worked on UX / customer satisfaction for many "traditional" automotive companies. From that experience, he knows how to look at any kind of product or service from a customer point of view and bridge the gap to engineers who often struggle to understand subjective customer perception and translate it to engineering criteria.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Zanker
Professor Production and Innovation Management | HfWU Nuertingen-Geislingen University Christoph is a Professor Production and Innovation Management at Nuertingen-Geislingen University. Previously, very strongly involved in the industrial manufacturing by working for the most important organizations as a Head of coordination office "Allianz Industrie 4.0 Baden-Württemberg" at VDMA, a Head of Competence Center and a Head of Business Unit "Production Systems and Value Networks" at Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research. He is going to contribute with his knowledge and experience on various topics, such as Mechanical and plant engineering, Holistic innovation, Corporate Foresight, Lean Manufacturing, Automotive Industry and Internationalization and much more.

CEO | Next DBI Markus Besch is a founder of several companies and also the Stuttgart Ambassador for Startup Live - a main organizer of the event. Markus also is the co-founder of Wizemann.space, a collaborative platform for innovators driving change.
